The Boston Institute of Shiatsu and Complementary Therapies is proud to offer affordable workshops, courses, and seminars, ranging from massage basics to advanced classes in Traditional Chinese Medicine. We welcome beginners and advanced healing practitioners to our clean and comfortable facility.

Basic Shiatsu
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-10pm
June 10 - Aug 14 (skips July 1st & 3rd)

This course will introduce Shiatsu techniques in two full treatment forms, Basic and Side. The Basic form is performed with the client in prone and supine positions, and serves as the foundation of all techniques that follow. The Side form is an excellent treatment position for pregnant women and clients who have difficulty lying face down. In addition to technique, students will also learn the location and basic functions of the 12 traditional meridians (energetic pathways), the concept of Ki (energy) in Chinese Medicine, principles of Yin/Yang and basic diagnostic techniques. At the end of this course, students will be able to give an hour-long Shiatsu session. Cost $745.

Kiiko Matsumoto Workshop Series
Saturdays: (remaining) June 22, July 20, 9:30am-5pm

Invited back due to overwhelming student enthusiasm, world-renowned acupuncturist and teacher Kiiko Matsumoto has authored three well-read texts in acupuncture and Oriental medicine: Five Elements and Ten Stems, Hara Diagnosis: Reflections of the Sea, and Extraordinary Vessels. In addition to her busy acupuncture practice in Newton, MA, she teaches internationally as well as in the United states. Her students are acupuncturists, M.D.s, and bodyworkers. In this workshop she will share with us the non-needle methods of treating heart and lung deficiencies. Kiiko's original and distinct methods are founded on her vast clinical experience. $110/wkshp

Bill Polk of Performax/Dragon's Edge offers this dynamic, intensive course to help correct a wide range of anatomical dysfunctions both genetic and environmental, assist in healing injuries, and enhance essential and athletic performance. Bill will demonstrate how to identify and remedy body asymmetry and muscular insufficiency through a carefully designed program of assisted stretching and strengthening exercises. $45

Continuing Education Policy

  1. If you withdraw prior to the commencent of a course, you will receive a full refund.

  2. If you withdraw after the commencement of a course, you will receive a pro-rata refund of the amount paid.

  3. If you fail to notify us of your intent to withdraw and classes begin, your deposit will be forfeited.

  4. Your withdrawal from a course will become effective on the day of notification to the school in writing (mail, fax, email).

  5. All refunds due to you will be calculated from the last date of attendance and paid within 30 days of the documented withdrawal date.
